Two of our products are
named after the file extensions that they produce, .HLP
and .CHM. If you want to create
Compressed HtmlHelp Files, i.e. the latest Microsoft Standard for Windows
98 and 2000, then you need DotCHM. This will also create WinHelp files
which will work in Windows3.1, 95, 98 and 2000, so with DotCHM you get the
best of both worlds. If you only need to create WinHelp files then DotHLP
is your best choice.

When you purchase one of our products
you enter into a relationship with a company that is 100% dedicated to
supporting you throughout your whole help development cycle, not just
up to the sale. How many times have you contacted a company for support,
waited days for a reply and when it finally came, the answer was so poor
that you wish you hadn't bothered? Well, we'll let our customers tell
you about the quality of the support you will receive from us:
"Autosoft
is a software developer and it offers support like you do to its
clients. I would just like to say that the support from you would
have to be the best I have seen. Anytime I have had a problem
you have bent over backwards to fix it. I would just like to let
you know it is appreciated. Thanks a lot, regards"
- Ron Mitchell - Autosoft Pty Ltd |
"Thanks
again for all your super prompt responses to my support emails!
You folks really look after your user base well."
- Scott Long - GM, Canada |
Do you really need a Help Authoring
Tool like DotCHM?
There are other options, for example you could
write your help file in rtf/html and JavaScript and learn about the syntax,
and proprietary codes needed to create indexes, popups etc, but that really
is painful. One of our customers did just that until he found DotHLP:-
"I
just wanted to say that while I do write a lot of programs in
various Window languages, most of them have suffered for lack
of any help file. The reason being that help files were such a
big pain to write in the older methods. When I got a copy of you're
program it only took me about 10 minutes to realize that it was
exactly what I needed. It allows me to concentrate on getting
the info I need to into help file format but without hassle of
the arcane rtf formatting necessary to get it compiled. Thank
you very much for developing that program...it'll certainly be
a lifesaver for me. I've already almost completed a pretty comprehensive
help system for an application I'm nearly done working on."

What about one of the more expensive
Help Tools?
DotCHM does not do everything and does not aim
to please everybody. If you're looking for a tool where you can keep a
copy of the manual in the bathroom to catch up on some study time or if
you want to string together multiple macros to create some special effect
on the menu bar then forget it, DotCHM is not for you. There are plenty
of other tools out there that will suit you just fine. However, if you're
short on time and you want to create a professional help file in the quickest
possible time and with the smallest learning curve in the industry then
you are very welcome here, you're in the right place.

message was copied from our support newsgroup!
"I just sent my
check for registration of the DotHlp program. I have been looking
at help authoring tools for some time now and I found yours extremely
intuitive and just what I needed. Thanks.
>Thank you very much. Would you mind if I used this as a quote
on our web
>site?
Not at all. As a registered user of both ForeHelp and RoboHelp
(both fine products) I was dreading writing another help file.
Not that there is anything wrong with either of these or the countless
others I have tried. But, as I write help files infrequently there
always seemed to be a large relearning curve each time I started
a new help project. Well NOT any
more."

(Wherever
you look on our site you'll see that all our claims are backed by quotes
from our customers. We feel that they are the best spokespeople for our
products, as they are the ones who use them day in day out in the real
world.)
Is it really going to be that
easy for me to Create help files?
Absolutely. You will be able to create a fully
working help file in One Minute! Then all you have to do is type in the
help text. But don't just take our word for it:-
"I
recently reviewed Auric Visions' DotCHM for the Microsoft and
Help University HTML Help Business Development Program and found
the product very easy to work with and Gary Handley's responses
to my questions to be excellent. DotCHM succeeds in its aim of
a visual approach to help authoring and quick turn-around of an
HTML Help help system. Take their One Minute Challenge and see
for yourself!"

You're in Good Company
Our help tools are being used right now to create
help files simply and easily across the globe, saving thousands of customers
from the stress and unnecessary steep learning curves imposed by every
other product out there. Our customers range from the independent developer
to household names like NASA, the US Army and Navy, Novell, Motorola and
IBM. We've doubled in size every year for the past three years and our
commitment to the future of our products and your service has never been
stronger.
Does ease of use = lack of features?
No, DotCHM has two modes, Beginner and
Advanced. You start off in Beginner mode and when you're ready to, or
if you ever need to, you can simply turn on Advanced mode to see a huge
array of features that are presented in the same visual, easy to use manner
that you're used to. We've added over 150 new features since the first
version, but you wouldn't think it to look at the uncluttered interface.
That's because a lot of features are working in the background automatically
for you. You can change the behavior of these in "Preferences"
or activate them through Advanced mode. We are very conscious of not letting
"feature-bloat" compromise the fundamental principles of ease-of-use
and productivity, which are the reasons DotHLP and DotCHM have become
the phenomenal success they are today.
So how much will it save me?
If you've never written a help file before then
5 minutes after using DotHLP or DotCHM you'll wonder what all the fuss
was about. We've made it so simple. If you're coming from another product
that forces you up a steep learning curve and you're still not productive
with it then you'll really appreciate how much you've saved! Save your
most precious resource, your time, so you can concentrate on what you're
good at. And at a price that's only a third of the price that are two
nearest rivals are charging, DotCHM presents superb value for money.
"Firstly
may I just say that DotHelp is the best help file generator that
I have ever seen and used. It has vastly cut down the amount of
time it takes for me to generate the help files required for my
companies products."
- Mark Turnbull - MavTech Software.
